SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — The Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDI) scheme under Yayasan Hijrah Selangor received encouraging response among entrepreneurs, said its executive officer.

Dato’ Mearia Hamzah, the scheme received more encouraging response than the i-Bisnes scheme as it is specifically for female entrepreneurs who want to start small businesses but need working capital.

“This year, Hijrah Selangor has disbursed RM46.5 million for both schemes. NaDI continues to be welcomed as it has helped 288 women, with a RM2 million allocation.

“Both schemes have their strengths, but for NaDI, it offers a group loan of RM5,000, while i-Bisnes offers up to RM5,000 for individuals registered with Companies Commission Malaysia for at least a year,” he said.

When met at the Hijrah Selangor office yesterday, she said her agency will widen NaDI’s reach in Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor next year to help more women looking to start businesses.

“This scheme has been implemented in rural areas such as in Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor, and we will widen this so more people benefit.

“For now, the sectors popular among new entrepreneurs under NaDI are food, clothes and services,” she said.

On September 11, Mearia said her agency has approved 90,475 applications since it was established in 2015 until August this year.

She said the disbursement has benefited 60,249 Hijrah Selangor entrepreneurs, helping them with working capital and purchase business equipment.
