SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — The three-day Selangor Entrepreneur Expo (Selbiz) 2024, organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), is targeting up to RM3 million in total transaction value.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the target, which is more than last year's RM2.2 million, is achievable given the improving economic situation.
“We are also aiming to surpass last year's visitor count of 45,000. This year’s Selbiz involves 230 exhibitors from various sectors, including food and beverages, retail and services.
“Some of these exhibitors are entrepreneurs who emerged from PKNS programmes. We encourage them to seize such opportunities as they can promote and market their products more widely,” he said at a press conference after officiating the expo, here, today.
Selbiz 2024, which kicked off yesterday, is being held at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam.
PKNS deputy chief executive officer (corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon said more than RM7 million is allocated annually to organise entrepreneur development programmes like Selbiz.
He added that to date, over 50,000 entrepreneurs have joined PKNS mentoring programmes, and the organisation is actively implementing initiatives to help them with the potential to expand their businesses overseas.
"Recently, PKNS also provided opportunities for entrepreneurs to participate in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) as well as the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China.
“This is a step to introduce their products and explore international market and export opportunities. In November, PKNS is planning to participate in the Mihas Expo in Dubai,” he said.
With the theme "Melangkah Lebih Jauh" (Going Further), the third edition of Selbiz also features vendors and exhibitors from Indonesia.
The event is livened up by various activities, including free health screenings, a meet-and-greet session with Selangor FC players, a magic show, a mini zoo and a skateboarding competition.
Tonight, visitors will also have the chance to enjoy performances by popular artists such as Hael Husaini, Syamel, Akim Majistret, Sarah Suhairi and 6ixth Sense.
