KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — The Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) MyJPJ app will only be accessible to users via the MyDigital ID single sign-on system from October 10, reported Malay Mail.
To access their road tax and driving licence information, users must register with MyDigital ID before the date, said a notice on the app after its latest update.
The app is one way to digitally view one’s driving licence and road tax information since the Transport Ministry stopped requiring road tax stickers on vehicles.
Though the notice did not state that MyDigital ID will be the only way for users to sign in, JPJ said it will limit the use of JPJeID, which is how some people log into the app currently.
“JPJeID will remain, but its use will be limited to the public portal and JPJ kiosks,” the department said in its frequently asked questions section on the MyDigital ID.
JPJ would become the first agency to require the use of MyDigital ID to access a service. The Health Ministry previously offered the digital login as a way to use the MySejahtera app, but it was not compulsory.
MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd — a subsidiary of the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry’s Mimos Bhd, which developed the MyDigital ID app — operates the digital identification platform, which is exclusively for Malaysians.
