SHAH ALAM, Oct 1 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) collected over eight tonnes of waste in Kampung Fajar, Hulu Kelang and Taman Bukit Indah Phase 2 recently in conjunction with World Cleanup Day.
In a statement, MPAJ said 210kg of recyclable waste was separated from the total collected.
“The programme is aimed at raising community awareness and encouraging residents to take responsibility for maintaining environmental cleanliness, particularly in residential areas.
“The initiative also supports the sustainable development goals, particularly the goal of making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable,” it said.

The programme was also attended by Lembah Jaya assemblyman Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Haddad, Hulu Kelang state assembly coordinator Juwairiya Zulkifli and MPAJ president Ani Ahmad.
The event also saw participation from residents of Taman Bukit Indah Phase 2, volunteers from the Ampang Community College, members of non-governmental organisation Arif Selangor, representatives from Minconsult Sdn Bhd, and the Zone 9 residents’ committee.
The two-day programme starting September 28 was also attended by the Kampung Fajar residents association, MPAJ councillors and staff, and representatives from the Selangor Water Management Authority and KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd.
