HULU LANGAT, Sept 29 — The Selangor government has spent RM59 million this year implementing public health initiatives to maintain the quality of life for its citizens.
State executive councillor for public health Jamaliah Jamaluddin said that the Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS) programme has helped residents access basic treatment and vaccinations, with RM500 allocated for families and RM250 for individuals.
“The state also provides a RM70 subsidy. For example, if treatment at a clinic costs RM90, the patient would only need to pay RM20 under this initiative.
“Selangor prioritises preventive healthcare in addition to treatment. As a result, the state provides free health screenings through the Selangor Saring initiative,” she said in her speech at the Mini Malaysian Madani Health Carnival at Dewan Serbaguna Bandar Teknologi Kajang, here today.
Meanwhile, Jamaliah also encouraged the public to take advantage of the available health screenings at such events.
“For screenings like cancer, diabetes, and cholesterol, the costs can reach up to RM3,000 when sought privately.
“However, screenings under Selangor Saring are free, and you only need to attend the programme at designated locations,” she said.
