PETALING JAYA, Sept 29 — Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has called on all party machinery to work diligently to ensure the state remains the party’s strongest fortress.
He said that in addition to well-organised operations, the party machinery must not waste time but actively disseminate the party’s message and mission.
“I am confident in this cause, and with God’s will, we will not only defend Selangor more strongly but also keep Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in power for the next term without a doubt.
“However, the condition is that we must win all contested state and parliamentary seats. I will defend what we fought for in 2022 and 2023… keeping those seats under Keadilan.
“The prime minister has created a grand formula, the Unity Government, but it needs to start from the grassroots. The entire machinery must mobilise, and this action begins now, no waiting,” he said at the 2024 Annual General Meeting for Branch, Women, and Youth Wing at the Dewan Sivik MBPJ Auditorium, here today.
Also present were the Prime Minister’s senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, and Selangor Keadilan deputy chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.
Amirudin, who is also the party’s vice president, stressed that Keadilan remains a vehicle for the reform movement despite the challenges faced in pursuing justice.
“This party is a platform, a vehicle for a cause that is nothing but reform. If we look back at its history, reform has been a long journey, filled with ups and downs, wins and losses, and departures.
“We must understand its meaning because once some believed that reform was merely protest and demonstration, but it carries a broader meaning. If we understand that, we will not misunderstand what we are fighting for.
“That’s why, if there are those who mock or criticise, let them be because they have nothing to offer. They have no concepts and only know how to criticise and disrupt national harmony. Keadilan is a party with principles, with a clear mission in nation-building,” he said.
Amirudin also reiterated that Keadilan is not a party of political deception but holds firmly to the principles of reform, and it will remain true to its cause.
