SUBANG JAYA, Sept 29 — After a 20-year wait, approximately 500,000 residents of Subang Jaya will soon have their own health clinic, with construction set to begin in the first quarter of next year.

Its state representative Michelle Ng Mei Sze said that the construction of the health clinic in USJ 1 had received planning approval from the Department of Urban and Rural Planning (PLANMalaysia) on September 27.

She said the tender for the project, which will cost more than RM52 million, is expected to be opened in October, and the clinic is scheduled to be fully completed by 2028.

“The construction cost is RM52.64 million, and the USJ 1 Health Clinic will also include an infectious disease component.

“This is a special facility for the health clinic to be built in Subang Jaya,” she said during the Malaysia Day Festival Programme, here yesterday.

Ng said that the construction of the health clinic will greatly facilitate residents’ access to healthcare services, particularly for the low-income (B40) group.

“Subang Jaya has never had a health clinic, so residents had to go to other health clinics, such as the Kelana Jaya Health Clinic.

“However, that clinic is undergoing renovations, so the Taman Medan Health Clinic is now handling the cases for Subang Jaya residents, while some USJ residents go to the Batu 14 Health Clinic in Puchong.

“Both of these health clinics are overwhelmed daily, receiving visits from up to 1,000 residents,” she added.
