SHAH ALAM, Sept 24 — The 2025 Selangor Budget, which will be tabled in November, outlines several new challenges to maintain the state's momentum as the largest contributor to the national economy.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they aim to advance the digitalisation sector, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) technology, by constructing the first AI development centre in Selangor.

“This process of modernisation cannot come to a halt; rather, it must adhere to a concept of using technology for good, to help simplify processes and improve accuracy.

“Last year, we proposed and requested the establishment of several centres, including an AI centre, and I hope we can finalise this soon, as many believe AI will continue to drive us forward,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the 2025 Selangor Budget dialogue session at the Setia City Convention Centre today, with Selangor State Secretary Dato' Haris Kasim in attendance.

In addition to progress in the digitalisation sector, he added that the 2025 Selangor Budget will emphasise the state's preparedness to face the impacts of climate change and global warming.

To this end, the state must be resilient and strengthen all relevant agencies to deal with potential disasters, like the major floods that occurred at the end of 2021.

“The second centre I proposed is a climate change research centre. We faced a disaster in 2021, and now it is happening in the northern region. It is not impossible that it could return here.

“We must mobilise all mechanisms involving the people within this context. Strengthen all agencies to enhance resilience, as this resilience will demonstrate our true capabilities,” he said.

The 2025 Selangor Budget dialogue session, involving over 100 stakeholders, was divided into five groups: Selangor Revenue Sustainability, AI, Resilient Selangor, Empowering and Strengthening the People's Welfare, and Housing.
