Kelantan cops raid homes with suspected links to GISBH CEO

KOTA BHARU, Sept 21 — Kelantan police raided three houses believed to be residences of the senior management families of GISB Holdings (GISBH) in Kampung Panji today.

Bernama was present during the operation from 6.30am to 9am, which was conducted by the Kelantan Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Kelantan Islamic Affairs Department.

Police found the second wife of a senior GISBH management member residing in one of the houses, along with more than 20 children.

Authorities also seized various books and documents related to GISBH, which were buried along the riverbank, with some of the materials already burnt.

Bernama was informed that the house has been tenanted by GISBH members for decades, with a high turnover of occupants.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, when contacted, said today’s operation was part of a large-scale initiative conducted in several states, including Kelantan.

He said further details about the operation will be provided soon.

In JOHOR BAHRU, the state government, through the Johor Religious Council (MAINJ), said it is investigating the activities and movements of GISBH.

Johor Islamic Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the state government takes the various allegations against GISBH very seriously.

"In order to uphold the dignity and sanctity of Islam, as well as to ensure the safety and welfare of the people, MAINJ, as the state religious authority, in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), has initiated investigations into the activities and movements of GISBH in Johor.

"The Johor state government urges all parties, including GISBH members and the public, to come forward with any complaints or information they may have to assist the investigations," he said in a Facebook post today.

Fared said MAINJ will firmly utilise all existing legal powers and regulations to maintain religious peace and uphold compliance with the law.

Yesterday, the Perlis Fatwa Committee declared that the beliefs and teachings of GISBH contain elements of deviant teachings, particularly in its spiritual aspects.

Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin was reported as saying that it is also an extension of the teachings of al-Arqam, which have been declared deviant.
