Ex-security agency accountant charged with CBT involving over RM1 mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — A former accountant of a security agency pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court today to three charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving over RM1 million four years ago.

S. Nagindran, 35, is facing three CBT charges in his role as the accountant of G15 Security Berhad at the time, where he was responsible for managing the company's finances.

He is accused of allegedly misappropriating RM1,042,980.98 in company funds for his personal use at a premises in Brickfields between March 20, 2020, and December 22, 2022.

The charges were brought under Section 405 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, caning, and a possible fine, upon conviction.

Nagindran also faces three alternative charges of dishonestly misusing the same amount of funds belonging to the company, at the same location and dates, under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which carries between six months and five years imprisonment, along with caning, and a possible fine, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor R. Harvind proposed bail at RM50,000 with one surety for all the charges, with the additional condition that the accused must surrender his passport to the court until the case is concluded.

However, Nagindran’s lawyer Lee Keng Fat requested a lower bail, citing that his client supports his family.

Judge Azrul Darus granted bail at RM30,000 with one surety for all charges and set October 18 for the next case mention.
