SHAH ALAM, Sept 18 — Various equipment have been prepared by the Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) in anticipation of the northeast monsoon and the high-tide phenomenon in the district.

Its Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz said that more than 20 vehicle assets have been prepared, including small boats, jetter trucks, pickup trucks, and water tankers, in case of flooding.

"Our team is always on standby from the beginning, including logistics aspects. We have also prepared drones, life jackets, and water pumps as part of the preparations for the high-tide phenomenon," she said.

MBDK also has 17 halls and community centres available to serve as temporary evacuation centres, which can accommodate over 1,000 individuals if the situation worsens.

Norfiza said these locations include Dewan Ahmad Razali, Dewan Meru, Dewan Pendamar Indah 2, and Balairaya Sri Damak, with 12 high-risk areas for high tides identified.

They also include Pengkalan Nelayan Tok Muda, the Sungai Sementa Fishermen's Jetty, and Jalan Banting Pandamaran, although the situation in those areas is reported to be under control.

"MBDK advises the public to remain vigilant and avoid recreational activities by the beach during high tides," she said.

Yesterday, the Klang District Disaster Operations Centre issued a tide and rainfall schedule following the high tide phenomenon forecasted to occur from yesterday until Saturday (September 21).
