SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) closed two healthcare premises that were operating as unlicensed massage centres in USJ 21 and SS15 on Wednesday (September 4).
Its Corporate Communications Department said that items related to the business were also confiscated during the operation at the massage centres.
"Based on intelligence and investigations, it was found that two healthcare centres were operating massage services without a licence under By-law 3(4) of the Beauty and Health Care Centres By-Laws 2013, and could be fined up to RM1,000 if convicted.
"Both premises have been subjected to closure and confiscation of business-related items under offences under By-law 36(1) and By-law 42(1) of the Beauty and Health Care Centres By-laws 2013," it said in a statement.
The operation was led by MBSJ's Enforcement Department, in collaboration with the Licensing Department and the Building Department.
The councill added that regular monitoring will continue from time to time, and strict action will be taken against any parties or premises that violate the established rules and regulations.
