GOMBAK, Sept 1 — The construction of the Wira Damai Islamic Complex for RM33 million will benefit approximately 10,000 residents of the Sungai Tua state constituency.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government project, via Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), is being built on a 10.5-acre piece of land and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.

The building will serve as a one-stop centre for ummah development programmes, in addition to providing more comfortable prayer facilities for residents, replacing the old and overcrowded Masjid An-Nur Kampung Wira Damai, which is unable to accommodate the excess number of worshippers.

“The process of applying for planning permission and gazetting the area as a mosque is also underway and is expected to be completed by the end of this year before construction work is scheduled to begin next year.

“The complex will be built using a Nusantara concept that is suitable for weather conditions and can accommodate up to 2,700 worshippers at one time.

“These facilities will be shared with the neighbouring areas, including residents of Apartmen Cempaka, Apartmen Kenanga, and Apartmen Beringin, as well as parts of Kampung Laksamana and Gombak Permai,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press after officiating the complex's groundbreaking ceremony today.

Meanwhile, PNSB chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said the building will also be equipped with an indoor hall, a religious primary school, and staff quarters for the mosque.

“The complex will be managed by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department once construction is completed,” he said.
