SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — Selangor FC did their best even though victory was out of their reach at the FA Cup final against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last night, said state football legend Azman Adnan.
Azman congratulated Selangor FC for making it to the final.
“Their performance was full of energy and they had the best momentum, but this is the way of football … Winning and losing is part of the game.
“We saw that JDT’s performance was no less great, and they’re a high-level team,” he told Selangorkini.
He was met while watching the match during a big-screen community watch organised by Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron at Restoran Nasi Kandar Haji Basheer here last night.
Azman, who was a striker for the national team in the 90s, advised footballers not to give up.
“My advice to young footballers is to focus, work hard and make efforts to improve as it is not easy to win.
“For Faisal Halim, I pray he recovers swiftly and returns to the pitch full of energy, because his journey is still long yet,” he said.
Earlier, Danial said more than 250 supporters gathered to watch the match on the big screen.
“The audience was lively despite victory evading Selangor FC, but there were many supporters behind the red-and-yellow team,” he said.
Defending champions JDT added another trophy to their collection after trouncing Selangor FC 6-1 at the FA Cup final at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, last night.
