KUCHING, Aug 15 — Selangor and Perak put on an enthralling goal-fest at the Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium before the former won 8-6 to lead Group B in men’s futsal competition at the 2024 Malaysia Games (Sukma) today.
Ahmed Haziq Haikal scored four goals (12th, 30th, 36th, 36th minutes) to inspire Selangor to victory, with Syahir Iqbal Khan (1st), Mohd Syauki (9th), and Zulkifli Abu Hassan (18th, 33rd) netting the others.
Perak, which trailed 2-4 at halftime, got their goals through Abdul Hadi (9th), Mohamad Amirul Aiman (12th), Matias Danisan (21st), Arif Muqri (22nd) before Mohamad Amirul and Abdul Hadi added another goal apiece in the last two minutes.
In another Group B match, Pahang downed Johor 3-0.
In the day’s earlier match, Group A leaders Terengganu maintained their unbeaten record when they edged Melaka 2-1.
Melaka stunned the favourites with an early second-minute goal by Muhammad Akmal Izudin but the Turtles bounced back after the break to score twice through RIzal Muhammad (21st) and Muhammad Ikhwan (32nd).
In another Group A match, Federal Territories made amends for their defeat at the hands of Penang yesterday by edging Sabah 7-6.
