SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — Selangor triumphed over Johor with a 3-2 victory in futsal at the Malaysian Games (Sukma) 2024 at the Kota Samarahan Indoor Stadium in Kuching, Sarawak, yesterday.
The opening match of Group B was fiercely contested, with both teams exchanging attacks from the very start.
Selangor took the lead with a penalty kick by captain Syahir Iqbal Khan Akhbar Khan in the sixth minute after the ball struck a Johor player’s hand.
Two minutes later, Johor levelled the score at 1-1 with a strike from Muhammad Rashidie Mahadi into Selangor’s goal.
Selangor managed to score their second goal through Muhammad Zufayri Shamsul Asmardy, who converted a second penalty kick in the 20th minute.
Syahir Iqbal made it 3-1 as the match entered the 23rd minute, and Rashidie reduced Johor’s deficit with a goal four minutes later.
Selangor faces Perak in their second match tomorrow.
