SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — The Hulu Kelang constituency accounts for over 1,200 applications for Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) since registrations opened in July.
Bingkas Hulu Kelang coordinator Juwairiya Zulkifli said her office is working to fill the 480 slots given as the constituency quota.
“Until last week, we have approved half of the quota for the Hulu Kelang constituency, and screening has been tightened to prioritise the truly deserving.
“However, aid other than Bingkas, such as food baskets, continue being distributed to the needy,” she told Selangorkini.
Juwairiya said her office is working to spread awareness of the state government’s initiatives in the community.
“We found that other aid programmes are less popular, like Skim Air Darul Ehsan and Iltizam Selangor Sihat,” she said.
On July 5, state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari announced that Bingkas application criteria was relaxed to households earning under RM5,000 (RM3,000 previously) to ensure more residents benefit from the aid.
She said the two-year monthly RM300 assistance can be requested until Thursday on the SELangkah app or the Bingkas website.
Bingkas is one of 46 Iltizam Selangor Penyayang incentives launched in 2022, replacing Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (Kiss) and Kiss Ibu Tunggal.
Bingkas aid is disbursed via the SELangkah e-wallet to facilitate recipients’ purchases.
