SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 – The Selangor administration is reportedly considering a reshuffle of its state executive councillors since their appointments a year ago, according to Malaysia Gazette.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who has led the administration since 2018, is reportedly planning to replace two state executive councillors to enhance the efficiency of the state administration.
The replacements, expected to take place at the end of this month or in September, are speculated to involve a leader from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) and another from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), the news portal reported today.
Citing sources, the reshuffle is said not to be due to poor performance of the current state executive councillors, but rather to provide opportunities for those with more experience.
Seven out of the 10 executive councillors are new faces, including an Umno representative, following the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional coalition’s victory in the Selangor state election on August 12 last year.
Alongside three experienced state executive councillors are Ng Sze Han (Kinrara), Izham Hashim (Pandan Indah), and Borhan Aman Shah (Tanjong Sepat), who were all sworn in on August 21, 2023.
The news portal said Keadilan is considering Azmizam Zaman Huri (Pelabuhan Klang) or Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad (Lembah Jaya) for the reshuffle. Azmizam has been serving as a state assemblyman since 2018, while Syed Ahmad, also known as Altimet, is a newcomer.
Malaysia Gazette also claimed a state executive councillor from DAP might be replaced by a more senior and experienced representative from the party.
“However, the final decision is still pending approval from DAP’s top leadership,” the source was quoted.
In addition to Amirudin and Borhan, Keadilan has two state executive councillors, DAP has four, and Parti Amanah Negara has two.
