SHAH ALAM, Aug 9 — Some 35,000 job opportunities are being offered through the Selangor JobCare roadshow, which is taking place across all nine districts in the state.
According to state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu, two of the job fair series have already been conducted in Hulu Selangor on June 29 and Petaling Jaya on July 17.
He said the programme will be held next at the Dewan Sri Jugra in Kuala Langat tomorrow, followed by the Dewan Perbandaran Ampang Jaya Municipal Council in Hulu Langat (August 17) and Dewan Beringin, Taman Seri Gombak in Gombak (September 21).
The remaining series will be held at Dewan Hamzah, Klang (October 5), Dewan Dato' Penggawa Permatang, Kuala Selangor (October 19), Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi community hall, Sepang (November 16) and Dewan Tun Razak Hall, Sabak Bernam (December 14).
“More than 30 employers are involved, offering various positions across different job fields. Anyone looking for a job can come to this job fair,” he said when met yesterday.
Meanwhile, Papparaidu said the state government is working closely with the workers’ union of Goodyear tyre manufacturing company following the closure of its Shah Alam operations effective June 30, to assist affected staff in securing new jobs.
"After meeting with the head of the union on March 26, we were informed that 316 workers were affected by the factory closure.
“We strongly encourage these employees to participate in the JobCare interview programme,” he said.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari had said that the state government is working with the Social Security Organisation to help the affected workers find new jobs.
