MRT Kota Damansara rebranding to promote healthcare — MOH

PETALING JAYA, Aug 8 — The MRT Kota Damansara station has been rebranded to MRT Kota Damansara Thomson Hospital station to promote sustainable and community-centred access to healthcare.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the station’s rebranding signifies the culmination of the government’s efforts to bridge the gap between healthcare and transport.

“I praise MRT Corporation for its efforts to set up stations strategically in locations that prioritise the requirements of the general population, especially healthcare, which is a crucial element of life.

“The World Health Organisation reported in 2021 that 4.5 billion people, over half of the global population, do not have full access to essential health services. Addressing this challenge requires strong public-private partnerships,” he said in his opening speech during the rebranding ceremony at the station here today.

He also lauded Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara for initiating the MRT station rebranding to raise awareness on the connectedness of healthcare services.

Lukanisman pointed out the convenience of public transport allows the public an alternative to private transport, especially for patients who undergo regular treatments and have multiple appointments.

“Reliable public transport also benefits healthcare workers by helping them manage their time better and live healthier lives. This initiative not only improves patient care but also supports the well-being of dedicated healthcare professionals.

“Using public transport to get healthcare would support a sustainable environment for a healthier, greener future for everybody as countries strive to meet (United Nations) Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.

TMC Life Sciences Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff, Kota Damansara assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim and MRT Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Mohd Hashim were present at the rebranding.

Meanwhile, Mokhtar said the initiative is a key element of the group’s unwavering commitment to excellence, and to ensure healthcare remains accessible.

“This MRT station rebranding represents a significant enhancement in our ability to serve both local and international patients, particularly from Indonesia, China, Bangladesh, and beyond,” he said.

The proximity of the MRT Kota Damansara Thomson Hospital station to the health facility, directly linked by a completely shaded walkway, facilitates convenient access for patients and visitors.
