State civil servants’ pay rise to follow Federal rate — Amirudin

SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — More than 21,000 Selangor civil servants will also receive a salary hike in line with the announcement to be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before the tabling of Budget 2025.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the hike would depend on the amount set by the Federal government.

“We will follow (the Federal government) and see how much the hike is. With the amount of reserves that we have, we can give (salary hike),” he said when met by reporters after the monthly Selangor civil servant assembly and Merdeka month launch at Dewan Jubli Perak here today.

On May 3, Amirudin reportedly said salary adjustments for Selangor civil servants will be done after the state administration receives a circular from the Federal government to increase civil servants’ wages.

Before this, the prime minister reportedly said salary hikes for civil servants will be announced before the tabling of Budget 2025, scheduled for October.

The last time civil servants’ salaries were adjusted was in 2013, for a 13 per cent hike.

On May 1, the Prime Minister announced a wage adjustment for civil servants of more than 13 per cent — the highest ever in national history.
