KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Over 1,000 people marched on Bukit Bintang last night at the Jalan-Jalan Palestin event to express support for Palestinians suffering at the hands of the Zionist regime.

The event, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Secretariat and Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions Malaysia, began with a march from Starhill Gallery to Fahrenheit88 here.

During the march, chants of “Free Palestine”, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, “Palestine will never die”, “Ceasefire”, and “Stop genocide” were heard.

Participants bore Palestine flags, banners and placards urging a ceasefire, demanding the Zionist regime halt attacks on Palestinians, and calling for justice over the death of Hamas political bureau head Ismail Haniyeh.

The crowd then moved past Lot 10, Hotel Parkroyal, Sungai Wang Plaza, Bukit Bintang Plaza, and Blitz Bukit Bintang.

The event was held in cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police, whose personnel managed traffic and security throughout the march.

After nearly an hour of marching over 5km, the crowd stopped in front of the Bukit Bintang McDonald’s for a final gathering and speeches from activists.

Batu MP Chua Tian Chang and social activist Hishamuddin Rais were also spotted showing solidarity at the event.

The rally ended at 10pm with the crowd peacefully dispersing.
