SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — A total of 168 entrepreneurs from four Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) entrepreneurship programmes are participating in the PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival (KUP) 2024, providing them with knowledge about the real world of business.

PKNS deputy chief executive officer (development) Md Kamarzan Md Rais said the three-day programme starting yesterday, which is in its second year, is also meant to help develop participants’ entrepreneurial skills.

“To ensure the continued development of entrepreneurs, PKNS employs a methodological approach involving real business simulations.

“By using this approach, PKNS can help entrepreneurs sharpen the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a competitive business world,” he said after officiating KUP 2024 at the PKNS Complex, here, today.

Also present was PKNS entrepreneur ambassador Datuk Rosyam Nor.

Participants of KUP 2024 comprised students from the Tunas Niaga (Protune), Graduate Entrepreneur (Grow), Advanced Graduate Entrepreneur (Grow Plus) and Bina Bangun Usahawan (BizUp) programmes.

Entrepreneurs who were met at KUP 2024 also commended PKNS for organising the event, which they said offered them invaluable exposure to the business world.

Frozen food trader Noraini Ahmad, 38, said her desire to gain more knowledge led her to travel from Tanah Merah, Kelantan, to participate in the Grow Plus course.

“I was looking for additional opportunities, and coincidentally, my products are widely marketed in Selangor. The market here is also larger, and I wanted to expand my business knowledge, so I chose PKNS.

“The impact has been significant after six months of joining the programme. Although I have been in business for eight years, there are many aspects, especially in management, that I need to improve,” she said.

For helmet entrepreneur Muhammad Khairi Raulah, 27, the success of his peers who participated in PKNS’s entrepreneurship Grow course motivated him to join the same programme.

He expressed his gratitude at being selected as one of 90 young entrepreneurs from thousands of applicants to participate in the course, which is offered free of charge.

“I saw that some alumni from the PKNS course have already succeeded, so I asked them about their secret. They then suggested that I join the entrepreneurship course.

“So far, I have noticed many improvements in my business. This is the first time I’m participating in face-to-face sales like this, and it has been a great experience for us,” he said.
