SHAH ALAM, July 29 — Halal International Selangor (HIS) Toyyiba Sdn Bhd is set to guide 100 Platform Selangor (PLATS) entrepreneurs to obtain halal certification.
PLATS general manager Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali said the 100 entrepreneurs passed a screening under the U-PLATS Halal Modules 1 to 3 since early this year.
“This is our pioneering project. From 100 PLATS entrepreneurs, today we will choose 10 participants who meet our criteria, to receive guidance to receive halal certification within three months.
“This programme is to provide awareness on the importance of halal certification among PLATS entrepreneurs via Modules 1 to 6, which will end in October,” he said before officiating the U-PLATS Halal Module 4 launch at the Raja Tun Uda Library here today.
The programme, which was held from 8.30am to 5.30pm, kicked off with Syaril’s speech about U-PLATS’ role.

It was followed by halal awareness training, delivered by HIS Toyyiba’s Ahmad Nasron Mohamed Din.
He spoke about the definition of halal, haram and syubhah, purification methods, conditions and criteria for the Malaysian halal certification procedure, and participant evaluations for halal certificate applications.
Syaril said entrepreneurs who did not make the cut will be further guided by HIS Toyyiba.
“They can still visit HIS Toyyiba as we offer advice, training and guidance to obtain halal certification.
He said HIS Toyyiba also facilitates entrepreneurs’ entry into the wider local and international markets.
“Among our initiatives and programmes are halal promotions inside and outside the country as well as exports to countries like Dubai, Oman, the Philippines, China, and the United States,” said Syaril.
PLATS, which was introduced after the movement restriction order in 2020, helps micro small and medium enterprises adapt to business digitalisation.
HIS Toyyiba is an initiative to make Selangor a global leader in the halal industry, and catalyse three thrusts under the Selangor Halal Action Plan 2020-2030.
