SHAH ALAM, July 27 — Wakaf Selangor (PWS) contributed RM45,000 in wakaf fisabilillah to Sekolah Rendah Agama Harmoni Taman Ria in Sekinchan yesterday.
The funds were presented by its Corporate Division's Collection and Distribution Unit Officer Muhammad Suffian Assauri Omar to assist in the school building's repairs and upgrades.
"A cash wakaf briefing was also delivered by Suffian himself to further spread the preaching, understanding, and awareness as well as the wisdom and benefits of wakaf to the teachers there," said PWS in a Facebook post.
PWS also set up a wakaf counter to give teachers the opportunity to perform the sunnah practice of wakaf through salary deductions and direct cash payments.
The establishment of PWS, a subsidiary of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais), was gazetted on January 11, 2011, following the ideas of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
In 2009, His Royal Highness decreed that Mais should establish the corporation to strengthen the management of wakaf similarly to zakat.
