MOSCOW, July 26 — Former United States president Barack Obama has been sharing his experience with Vice President Kamala Harris and is expected to officially endorse her presidential bid soon, reported Sputnik today, citing The New York Times.
He has not publicly expressed his support for Harris, but has reportedly been in regular touch with the presumptive Democratic nominee, mentoring her behind the scenes and interacting with his former assistants, who may help her campaign.
On Sunday (July 21) President Joe Biden announced that he would withdraw from the presidential race and endorsed Harris as the Democratic Party's nominee.
Obama was notably absent from the list of Democrats who supported Harris as Biden's successor. Instead, he said he was confident that the Democratic Party would be able to organise a process to find the right presidential candidate.
Later, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obama and his wife Michelle expressed their support for Harris in the presidential race.
"Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic president of the United States, and that she has our full support.
"At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us," he said.
