SUBANG JAYA, July 24 — All 20,000 tickets for The Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC) match between Selangor and Singapore on August 17 are sold out.
TSSC chairman and team manager Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar said the match will be the first event held at the historic Merdeka Stadium, since its closure about eight years ago for renovation.
“This match will be the first time the Merdeka Stadium is reopened to the public after undergoing renovation since 2016.
“All tickets have been sold out. For Singaporeans, we only allocated 1,500 tickets,” he said at a press conference after a TSSC promotional tour and ticket handover ceremony at the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) today.
MBSJ is the final location of the tour, which began June 24.
Karim said that prior to kick-off, spectators will be entertained by a band performance, fireworks display, parachute show, and performance by local artist Datuk Jamal Abdillah.

Football fans also stand a chance to win a Honda City in a lucky draw, as well as holiday trips to Sabah and Melaka.
“We encourage fans to use public transport to prevent traffic congestion, and to arrive early, preferably by 5pm,” he said.
The veterans’ match between Selangor and Singapore kicks off at 8pm, while the Selangor Selection and Singapore Selection match will begin at 9pm.
Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said two buses will be arranged to transport MBSJ supporters and staff on match day.
“This is part of our effort to help them travel to the Merdeka Stadium, but we still encourage the use of public transport for a smoother travel experience,” he said.
The Merdeka Stadium was closed in 2016 for conservation and upgrading works by Permodalan Nasional Bhd.
The stadium, which was built in 1956 and completed within a year, was once celebrated as a national engineering masterpiece, and is the historic location at which the country’s independence was declared in 1957.
