SHAH ALAM, July 23 — The ongoing monitoring by the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) following the recent water service disruption has detected zero threshold odour number (TON) readings.
In a Facebook post tonight, it said the zero TON readings were across the board, including at Sungai Kuang, Sungai Kundang, Sungai Sembah, and Sungai Selangor.
"Zero TON readings were also recorded three times at the intakes of the affected water treatment plants (WTP), starting at 2pm," Luas said.
Raw water was successfully channelled back to the Rantau Panjang WTP at 3pm, while the SSP3, SSP2, and SSP1 WTPs became operational again by 5pm.
"Luas will continue to closely monitor odour impacts at these locations until all affected areas are confirmed to have no further risk or potential.
"At the same time, the Luas team is closely supervising the cleaning operations of the involved premises in the affected areas, which are now at 90 per cent completion," it said.
Earlier today, an unscheduled water supply disruption hit seven regions in the Klang Valley.
This is after the operations of the Rantau Panjang WTP and Sungai Selangor Phases 1, 2, and 3 WTPs were suspended due to odour pollution in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.
The areas affected include Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor.
Meanwhile, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd announced that the SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 WTPs have resumed their operations as of 9pm.
"Air Selangor is doing its best to mitigate the impact on the consumers. Alternative assistance through water tankers has been mobilised to the affected areas by giving priority to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres, and funeral service centres during this period of unscheduled water supply disruption," it said in a Facebook post.
Alternative water supply assistance through 17 local service centres is also provided for consumers' convenience.
"Air Selangor will provide updates progressively from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media.
"Consumers can refer to all our official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300 or visit www.airselangor.com," Air Selangor said.
