Minister calls for halt to unofficial articles on Malaysia’s Olympic contingent

KUALA KUBU BHARU, July 21 — Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has urged all parties to stop disseminating unofficial material on the country’s Olympians due for Paris.

She said it was to allow the 26 athletes to focus on their training and preserve their mental health ahead of the prestigious world games.

“I don’t want anything to interfere with their mental health and their preparations as I believe all agencies have done their best for these 26 athletes,” she told reporters after attending the launch of the Santuni Madani: One Leader One Village Programme by the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) at Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telor here this morning.

Earlier, Yeoh announced that KBS has adopted Kampung Orang Asli Buloh Telor during her tenure as minister.

She said the socio-economic issues of villagers will be identified, with solutions for education, poverty, health, and infrastructure issues proposed via the initiative.

“Among initiatives to be implemented this year is the renovation of multipurpose courts for sepak takraw and badminton, with an estimated allocation of RM50,000 to RM100,000.

“For 2025, KBS plans to repair the football field, with an estimated allocation of RM300,000 to RM400,000,” she said after handing over football and badminton equipment to youth in the village.

Yeoh said the badminton equipment was sponsored and signed by national badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
