KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — Foreign diplomats in Malaysia extended their heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on his official installation as the 17th King of Malaysia.

The coronation ceremony, held at Istana Negara today, was steeped in the traditions and customs of the Malay Rulers.

British High Commissioner to Malaysia Alisa Terry, who attended the coronation, expressed her honour at being invited.

"The longstanding relationship between the Royals from both our countries and the deep people-to-people links form the foundation of the modern partnership between the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia," she told Bernama.

Terry also conveyed a special congratulatory message from UK’s King Charles III: “I write to congratulate you most warmly on your Coronation as The King of Malaysia. I look forward to working with you to strengthen the bonds between our people and deepen the close cooperation between our nations.

“As Commonwealth partners, the United Kingdom and Malaysia share common values and longstanding links in areas such as education, trade, technology, and defence.

“I hope we can continue to build on all that unites us in the years ahead, including our shared commitment to tackle climate change and safeguard the natural environment for future generations,” read His Majesty's message.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia Ragai Tawfik Said Nasr also attended the coronation ceremony.

He expressed admiration for the exceptional organisation and amazing atmosphere of the historic event at Istana Negara.

The ambassador conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on His Majesty's installation as King of Malaysia.

Nasr said he had the honour of meeting Sultan Ibrahim during the visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Prof Ahmad Muhammad Ahmad At-Tayyeb to Malaysia from July 2 to July 5, during which His Majesty granted an audience to the Ahmad.

"I am confident that under Sultan Ibrahim's rule, Malaysia will experience a very prosperous future over the next five years, guided by his wisdom and the insights he shared in his speech at the ceremony.

“I hope we can find many more opportunities for both Malaysia and Egypt, and the relationship between both countries will grow even closer," he told Bernama.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia's chargé d'affaires ad interim Denys Mykhailiuk extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sultan Ibrahim and his family on the auspicious occasion of his installation as the King of Malaysia.

He said this significant milestone marks a new chapter in Malaysia's rich history, and Ukraine looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation under His Majesty's leadership.
