SHAH ALAM, July 18 — Starting this month, the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) will begin towing heavy vehicles found parked illegally in residential areas and hotspots.
The decision came after numerous public complaints pertaining to heavy vehicles in the district were lodged.
“As such, MBDK will enforce towing actions for heavy vehicles parked in residential areas or causing traffic obstructions, particularly in identified hotspots.
“The enforcement aims to educate road users, especially heavy vehicle operators and owners, to be more disciplined in adhering to the laws enforced by MBDK,” it said in a statement today.
According to a poster published on MBDK's Facebook page, in addition to housing areas, heavy vehicles are also prohibited from parking along road shoulders, public parks, road reserves, and gazetted parking bays.
The council added that the high frequency of heavy transportation in Klang, especially container trucks and commercial vehicles, is due to the existence of three major ports there: North Port, South Port, and West Port.
MBDK said those who have any queries pertaining to the enforcement action can contact its toll-free line at 1800-88-23826 or the Enforcement Department office at 03-3374 8845
