BATU GAJAH, July 17 — The National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance and Ethics Guidelines will be ready by year-end.
National Digital Department director-general Fazidah Abu Bakar said the department is fine-tuning the guidelines as there are no specific rules for AI.
“We are in the process of drafting guidelines we currently lack in terms of regulation and specific references. We must consider all aspects, including platform providers and the public,” she said after officiating the Digital Document Management System (DDMS) 2.0 at the Batu Gajah District Council here today.
Fazidah said the guidelines will focus on ethical integrity and involve all segments of society, adding that they are being discussed by ministries.
She was responding to the government’s measures to address deepfakes, which have recently affected victims including renowned national artist Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
Also present at the event were Batu Gajah District Council president Mohamad Razif Ramli, National Archives director-general Datuk Jaafar Sidek Abdul Rahman, and Perak National Archives director Shahida Mohamad Salleh.
The DDMS has been used by 370 government agencies and is expected to be used by 500 agencies by next year.
DDMS 2.0 houses 12.3 million records and serves nearly 60,000 active users, who are civil servants.
