SHAH ALAM, July 15 — Appointment letters were given to 373 Village Development and Safety Committee (JPKK) chairmen cum village heads for the 2024/25 session today.
State executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said their service terms are effective July 1, 2024, until December 31, 2025.
“I hope a strong JPKK team can be formed and truly work for the people at the grassroots level in villages,” he said at the appointment letter handover ceremony, also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, at Concorde Hotel here.

Rizam said the state government has agreed to expand JPKK membership numbers to strengthen unity among village leaders.
“Through Gagasan Rumpun Selangor, the JPKK membership has been expanded to mosque chairmen, People’s Volunteer Corps, neighbourhood association areas, Selangor Farmer’s Organisation Authority, and youth groups in relevant bureaus.
“This will reinforce village heads’ role in coordinating programmes and activities so there are no overlaps,” he said.
Rizam added that the state government and the Selangor Economic Planning Unit will hold town halls, courses and training to enhance village heads’ leadership, including lessons in management and basic organisational skills such as conducting meetings and recording minutes.
“Village heads will also be exposed to ethics and protocol management, cooperation development, and basic conflict management according to syariah or sulh,” he said.
