GOMBAK, July 14 — A total of RM600,000 was distributed to three apartment complexes in the district today to undertake upgrading works on facilities and infrastructure.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the aid, disbursed by Federal and state governments, aims to ensure residents' comfort as well as a more harmonious and prosperous living environment.

“RM500,000 is given to the Cemerlang Court low-cost flat through the Caring Government for Residence Improvement Aid (Ceria) scheme to repair the roof.

“Meanwhile, RM50,000 is given each to Pangsapuri Cempaka for repainting works and Pangsapuri Permai for closed-circuit television installation,” he said at the Rewang Komuniti programme organised by the Selayang Municipal Council here today.

Amirudin, who is Gombak MP, said the Federal government has approved RM10 million for the state to carry out maintenance works on old apartments.

“Last year, I made an application and approximately RM10 million was approved. Today’s aid is part of the approved assistance,” he said.

It was previously reported that the state government had spent RM123.7 million to refurbish 257 low-cost apartments between 2011 and 2022.

The state government also launched the Ceria scheme to help repair broken roofs, lifts and water tanks, among others.
