SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The state government is prepared to utilise the facilities of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) should it become the host for the Malaysian Games in 2026.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said they would certainly want to make use of the infrastructure if the new stadium is completed ahead of schedule.

“Actually, Selangor has been offered to be the host, not bidding, and the development of the new stadium is a benchmark for whether it can be completed earlier or not.

“If completed earlier, we certainly would like to host, but once again, I emphasise that Selangor is not in a rush. This is because doing so will ultimately lead to destruction or cause worse issues,” he said.

Speaking at the wind-up of the First Selangor Plan's Mid-Term Review during the State Legislative Assembly session yesterday, Amirudin said they expect 69 out of 282 planned projects to exceed the 2025 timeframe, necessitating their continuation under the Second Selangor Plan.

“This includes the Pulau Carey project, as well as KSSA which comes with a multipurpose hall, hotel, central parking, and transportation facilities station,” he said.

Previously, when presenting the review, the Menteri Besar said that 18 per cent of the projects, programmes, and initiatives (PPI) had been fully completed, while the remainder are ongoing from 2021 to 2023.

A large part of the efforts have been ongoing after a careful planning process, with nearly 20 per cent having been completed and are annual efforts.
