SHAH ALAM, July 11 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly’s office will send a letter to police, urging them to arrest the assailants who attacked footballer Faisal Halim with acid.

The state assembly on July 5 passed an emergency motion condemning extreme, violent attacks on athletes.

“An emergency motion was tabled by Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Azmi, on the cruelty against Faisal, was debated by representatives and passed.

“The assembly office will write a letter to police that the sitting passed a motion condemning the incident involving Faisal and urging the investigation be done thoroughly and speedily,” he said during a press conference at Wisma DNS here today.

On July 5, the motion, which was debated by five assemblymen, was passed by Deputy Speaker Kamri Kamaruddin before the debate session for the First Selangor Plan mid-term review.

On May 5, an unknown assailant attacked Faisal with acid at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

Selangor FC chief executive officer Johan Kamal Hamidon on July 4 confirmed the star winger was recovering and due to join training this week.
