Govt to utilise Padu for 'use cases' developed by various agencies

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — The government will utilise the Central Database Hub (Padu) on the ‘use cases’ developed by various agencies as part of its efforts to improve socio-economic programme planning in the future, said Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

These efforts are specifically undertaken to optimise resources, reduce leakages, and improve public wellbeing.

“The government is also analysing the formation of use cases, and one of the main use cases is the mechanism to channel targeted subsidies,” he told the Dewan Rakyat today.

The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit’s MYSQA portal defines ‘use case’ modelling as a technique for determining the functions of a particular system.

Rafizi was responding to Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee's query on the government’s data and mechanism readiness to implement the channelling of subsidies.

“Improvements to the Padu system guarantee (data) security, and it will be implemented dynamically until the system can function in real-time without needing updates.

“Compared to the situation before Padu, when the government announces an aid programme, each application (for the aid) has to be examined by various (government) departments such as the Inland Revenue Department and the Road Transport Department, resulting in a lengthy process,” he said.

Commenting on the government’s initiatives to improve the empowerment of the Bumiputera economy, Rafizi said the government will continue to issue grants to assist Bumiputera entrepreneurs.

“The government has given clear policy guidance that participation of government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies must expand and become more proactive in stimulating and driving the agenda to empower the Bumiputera economy,” he said.

The minister was responding to Kuala Terengganu MP Amzad Mohamed@Hashim's query on the government’s efforts to increase the participation of Bumiputera companies in high-impact sectors.
