KULIM, July 11 — A man has been remanded for six days to help in the investigation into the case of two brothers who consumed snacks laced with rat poison in Kampung Padang Ubi, Labu Besar on Sunday (July 7).
Kulim Sessions Court Judge Mirza Mohamad issued the remand order for investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 284 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, the suspect, dressed in a lockup uniform, arrived at the Kulim Court Complex at 8am under police escort.
It was previously reported that the two children, Muhammad Akil Syauqi Nur Sufyan, three, and his younger brother Muhammad Luth Syauqi, two, fell critically ill after consuming the snacks, believed to have been placed on a fence by a farm owner to trap monkeys.
Akil died at 8.40am yesterday while his brother remains unconscious at the Penang Hospital.
