LOS ANGELES, July 9 — United Airlines said it is investigating how the wheel of a Boeing 757-200 fell off on takeoff from the Los Angeles International Airport yesterday.
The flight landed safely in Denver, reported United Press International.
United Flight 1001, carrying 174 passengers and seven crew, made an emergency landing at Denver International Airport without incident.
Crew recovered the wheel that dislodged from the back portion of the plane in Los Angeles.
Other pilots contacted air traffic control about the wheel of the plane rolling down the runway after the flight had taken off.
It marked the second time this year a United Airlines flight has dealt with a loose tyre. In March, a tyre came off a United Boeing 777 on takeoff from San Francisco International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport. While the plane landed safely in Los Angeles, the wheel damaged vehicles in a San Francisco parking lot.
