SHAH ALAM, July 5 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly has approved the appointment of 373 Village Development and Security Committee chairmen (JPKK), or village heads, for the term starting July 1.
State executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said the appointment was coordinated by his committee, the State Economic Planning Unit and the Land and District Office.
“As is usual practice, the appointment of community leaders is based on negotiations between political party leaders in the Selangor coalition government,” he said in response to a question by Sementa assemblyman Noor Najhan Mohamad Salleh.
Noor Najhan asked about the status of JPKK chairmen appointments.
Previously, Selangor Umno reportedly returned offers for 75 village community management council or village head positions to the state government.
