Malaysia Pavilion at cultural week in China draws over 55,000 visitors

PUTRAJAYA, July 3 — The Malaysia Pavilion at the Malaysia Cultural Week 2024, held for five days in Xinjiang, China, has attracted over 55,000 visitors, said the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac).

In a statement today, Motac said the Malaysia Pavilion stood out with its unique design inspired by tanjak, songket and other cultural elements.

The pavilion hosted a variety of activities, including cultural performances, heritage food demonstrations, promotions of the “King of Fruits” and business-to-business sessions with Tourism Malaysia and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC).

Motac said the Malaysia Pavilion was the only exhibit at the 8th China-Eurasia Expo that highlighted culture and tourism, while the other pavilions focused on trade activities.

The expo, which concluded on June 30, featured 1,900 exhibitors from 50 countries and received extensive media coverage in China.

The ministry said the Malaysia Cultural Week 2024 success resulted from combined efforts from various quarters, including the National Department for Culture and Arts, Istana Budaya, Tourism Malaysia and ITC.

The statement also quoted Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, who emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and China, especially in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year.
