SHAH ALAM, July 3 — The 25.9 per cent contribution from Selangor to the 2023 national gross domestic product (GDP) shows the state administration is on the right track.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state Unity Government’s efforts will continue leading Selangor to its peak performance.

“Selangor’s increase in its GDP contribution, its economic activity value reaching RM400 billion, and its growing economic size proves the Selangor Unity Government is on the right track.

“Praise be to God, Selangor continues achieving success with efforts from all parties and the state government, which consistently delivers its best.

“We were delighted to hear the news that Selangor continues to lead the nation’s economic development,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He thanked civil servants, private parties, the business community and the Selangor people for the state’s glowing performance.

“God willing, we will work even harder so Selangor can keep advancing,” he said.

Yesterday, the Statistics Department reported Selangor contributed 25.9 per cent to the national 2023 GDP, from 25.5 per cent the previous year.

The state’s economic growth rose by 5.4 per cent, exceeding the moderate national growth of 3.6 per cent last year.

The report also showed the GDP of three other states exceeded the national growth rate: Pahang (5.2 per cent), Johor (4.1 per cent) and Kuala Lumpur (3.7 per cent).
