SHAH ALAM, June 26 — The list of Selangor athletes for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) this year will be finalised before July 5, said the Selangor Sports Council's executive director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi.
Currently, each sports association actively monitors the progress of its athletes to ensure their performance is at an optimal level.

“We already have a list of athletes involved, but some of them cannot be sent to the games due to commitments to other sports, including the Olympic Games.
“Therefore, the associations will submit their names, and we will finalise the list before July 5. At present, the athletes are actively training, and we will ensure their health is in good condition,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini yesterday.
The 21st Sukma is scheduled to take place from August 17 to August 24, and Sarawak will host the biennial national sports event.
For this edition, Selangor aims to secure 61 gold medals and is confident of finishing in the top three.
The state won the sports event, also in Sarawak, in 2016. Under the 2024 Selangor Budget last year, RM8 million has been allocated for Selangor's contingent preparations.
