SHAH ALAM, June 20 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is offering free services and special offers to residents in celebration of its 18th anniversary today.
It said in a statement that parking throughout Petaling Jaya, as well as the use of its swimming pools, courts and fields, are free.
Visitors can enjoy free services at Laman MBPJ, Jalan Yong Shook Lin, from 9.30am to 11.30pm.
“Visitors can also get a 50 per cent discount on wheeled garbage bins and free abate (mosquito larvicide).
“MBPJ is giving away saplings such as calamansi lime, sapodilla, honey jackfruit, blueberry and mulberry to visitors, in line with efforts to make Petaling Jaya a beautiful, clean and sustainable city,” it said.
Additionally, the council is offering 500 free memberships to its community library and mobile library services to promote reading.
Visitors can also participate in sporting events such as netball, sepak raga and snakes and ladders, as well as a lucky draw.
In the evening, Petaling Jaya residents will showcase their talents in the Golden Voice singing contest and traditional costume pageant.
“The highlight of the 18th anniversary celebration will be held on June 29, with the opening ceremony of the Petaling Jaya anniversary and the promotion of the Petaling Jaya International Folklore Festival 2025 at 8.30pm at Dataran Boulevard.
“The event will feature cultural performances, parades by government and private bodies, and performances by local artists such as Fahimi Angau, Victoria Ng, Santesh, Black Mentor and Aisha Retno,” MBPJ said.
