Several road closures on Sunday for global cycling event

SHAH ALAM, June 20 — Several roads in the state will be closed in stages this Sunday (June 23) to make way for the Selangor State Development Corporation's (PKNS) Selangor International Bicycle Race (SIR) 2024. 

According to a post by Astro Radio Traffic on X (formerly Twitter), the areas affected by the road closures include:

  1. The Shah Alam city centre
  2. Bukit Jelutong 
  3. Section U6, Denai Alam, Elmina, and Saujana Utama 
  4. Jalan Kepong-Kuala Selangor and Kuang 
  5. Selangor Fruit Valley and Bestari Jaya 
  6. Jalan Kepong-Kuala Selangor in Kota Puteri 
  7. Alam Perdana (heading towards PKNS) 
  8. Section U9-U10, Hillpark, and Eco Grandeur 
  9. Alam Budiman and Setia Alam 
  10. Eco Ardence and Section U12
  11. Section 6, Section 7, Section 8, and Shah Alam Lake Garden

SIR 2024 will take place from 7am to 2pm on that day.

Participating riders will cycle 145km along roads in Selangor, ranging from undulating terrain to flat areas. 

The race will start at PKNS’ headquarters in Shah Alam and pass through several areas, including Denai Alam, Elmina, Kuang, Kundang, and Ijok, as well as locations with PKNS projects. 

Meanwhile, Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah is expected to flag off the race. 

Riders from nine countries, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Germany, and the Philippines, are expected to participate in the event.

SIR 2024 not only provides a platform for local riders to showcase their talent but also gives established riders an opportunity to compete against international riders.
