PSM offered hosting rights for Asia Cup 2025 — Astaf

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — The Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (Astaf) has offered hosting rights to the Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) for its inaugural 2025 Sepaktakraw Asia Cup Championship (Asia Cup 2025).

Astaf president Datuk Abdul Halim Kader said the offer was made by the Astaf Executive Committee during its meeting in Bangkok recently after a unanimous decision was made to appoint Malaysia as the host.

Therefore, he hopes the sports governing body led by Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan and the PSM Supreme Council will carefully consider the offer.

Abdul Halim said the main factor in Malaysia's being entrusted and offered the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2025 is 10 strong and practical foundations, among them being Malaysia's successful hosting of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (Istaf) Sepaktakraw World Cup, which was held from May 16 to May 26.

"...more importantly, the concern (of the Youth and Sports Minister) Hannah Yeoh which allowed PSM to achieve the goal of hosting the Istaf Sepaktakraw World Cup through the allocation of a RM 1 million sports sponsorship grant.

"This inaugural championship (Asia Cup 2025 ) is aimed at making it a testing ground for countries that will be involved in the 2025 Bangkok SEA Games," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, as Istaf's secretary-general, Abdul Halim said the format for three events involving the team regu, regu, doubles, and quadrant events would be proposed to the SEA Games Federation in Bangkok.
