SUBANG JAYA, May 30 — The slope stabilisation works at the landslide area along Jalan Wawasan in Taman Wawasan, Puchong, are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the work on strengthening the site and structure and constructing permanent drains has reached 20 per cent.

“However, residents whose homes have been affected by this natural disaster are still not allowed to return, and we ask everyone to be patient as the repair work will take a little longer.

“We are concerned that allowing residents to return would pose an accident risk due to the proximity of the construction area to the affected houses,” he said.

Fauzi was speaking during a press conference after chairing the Subang Jaya City Council's (MBSJ) monthly full meeting at its headquarters today.

The landslide on December 16 last year resulted in the evacuation of 29 residents in nine terrace houses from their respective homes due to safety reasons.

Occurring along Jalan Wawasan 3/9 and Jalan Wawasan 3/14 at 7.30pm, the incident also buried four vehicles, but with no injuries or casualties reported.

Meanwhile, Fauzi said that the notice of the new valuation list will be announced and issued to homeowners in Subang Jaya by the middle of next month.

“We are still adhering to the state government's decision that the maximum increase should not exceed 25 per cent, and we are now waiting for the new gazette valuation process.

“We expect the gazette valuation to be approved on June 13, after which the notice will be issued to the residents, and they will have 36 days to file any objections,” he said.
