SHAH ALAM, May 30 — Selangor FC star winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim is expected to make a return to the pitch before the end of the year, said state executive councillor for sports Mohd Najwan Halimi.
This was based on the latest update provided by the club’s management on the status of the national footballer, who was a victim of an acid attack earlier this month.
“We (the state government) received an update from the Selangor FC management that he is expected to recover within six months.

“However, as he appears highly motivated and energetic, InsyaAllah, his recovery process can take less than six months,” he told the press after launching the Selangor 1000 Digital programme at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre today.
On May 5, Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being attacked with acid by an unknown individual at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya and had to be treated in the intensive care unit for 10 days.
He was discharged from the hospital on Saturday (May 25) after undergoing four surgeries.
The Red Giants previously said that based on specialist doctors’ observation, Faisal, fondly known as Mickey, has exceeded everyone’s expectations and shown remarkable recovery from his injuries.
Meanwhile, Najwan said that Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah is prepared to cover the costs of Faisal's follow-up treatments, and that the state government is ready to assist in whatever way to expedite his recovery process.
“Let us pray for his speedy recovery so he can wear the Selangor and national team jerseys again and return to the field,” he said.
