Anwar, Srettha meet in Tokyo to discuss economy, tourism, connectivity plans

BANGKOK, May 24 — Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met in Japan yesterday to discuss on opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

Today, Srettha announced on his official X account that he and Anwar had fruitful discussions, building on their previous meeting in Melbourne, Australia earlier this year.

Srettha revealed that among the developments discussed during the meeting include the development of customs infrastructure and bridges to promote connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia, developing joint special economic zones especially on the halal industry, to promote tourism together through the 'Six Countries, One Destination' initiative, and expanding opportunities for the two countries' core industries.

"The momentum is here and we are expanding opportunities for our key industries together," he said.

Both the Prime Ministers are in Tokyo, Japan to attend the 29th International Conference on the Future of Asia (Nikkei Conference).
