KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — The Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah urged all Malaysian nationals intending to perform the haj this year to ensure they have a valid haj permit before embarking on their journey to the kingdom.
The Consulate General’s X account posted about its commitment to assist Malaysians in Saudi Arabia.
But it reminded the public that people who violate Saudi regulations must be prepared to face stringent legal action.
“Anyone found not to have a valid haj visa/permit will be fined SAR10,000, or RM12,485.81, and sent back to their country of origin (without having performed the haj), in addition to being blacklisted from entering the country,” it said.
Malaysians were advised to verify the legitimacy of any haj package offered outside of the official Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) management.
They were asked to consult TH to ensure compliance.
Saudi Arabia issued strict instructions that only those with valid haj permits are allowed in Makkah from May 24.
